Methods of Choosing an Architect

A licensed architect can be an invaluable asset to any construction project or even a new home remodeling important. Architects not only come with the design, they also guide you through each step of the construction process, including construction supervision and ensure the contractor follows the plans.

1. A list of local architects that you want to interview. Ask your friends, family or business associates for recommendations. Also visit the websites of architects to see samples of their work.
2. Contact candidates for brief telephone interviews. Remember that architects are highly paid professionals, so make sure you have a list of questions. Any architect you consider hiring should take the time to answer your questions about their experience, design principles, etc., but do not expect to give their knowledge freely.
3. Refine your list of three to five best candidates, and set up a meeting with each of them. Be prepared with information on what you want to build your budget, and any questions you want to ask the architect.
4. Ask them questions when you meet them, like what is your experience in building? what do your services include? and so on.
5. Take the time to compare the best candidates carefully, ensuring that there is an adjustment of the personality as a professional.
